Ballet:
Girls Pre-ballet
Pink leotard, white cotton bobby socks, pink leather ballet technique shoes. Hair neatly fastened in hair bun, hair out of face.
Pre-ballet/tap combo: same as above along with tap shoes

Girls Levels 1-2
Black leotard, white cotton bobby socks, pink leather ballet technique shoes. Hair neatly fastened in hair bun, hair out of face. Hair bangs should be pinned back.

Girls Levels 3-6
Black leotard, pink tights, pink canvas technique shoes, pink pointe shoes for levels 3-6.  Hair neatly fastened in hair bun, hair pinned out of face.

Boys Pre-ballet, Level 1, 2, 3
White T-shirt, dance belt, black shorts, white socks, black ballet leather technique shoes. Hair combed out of face.

Boys Levels 4, 5, 6
White T-shirt, dance belt, black tights, black leather or canvas ballet technique shoes. Hair combed out of face. Please use deodorant.

All dancers: please do NOT use powders as it can make the dance floor slippery. Please kindly avoid wearing heavy perfumes or colognes during class as it might bother other’s allergies.

Levels 5 and 6 may wear any colored leotard during weekend rehearsals.

Contemporary Class:
Level 4, 5, 6 Contemporary class: please follow ballet dress requirements for the appropriate level along with nude colored “foot undies”.

Chinese Tumbling:
Please wear ballet attire. Bare feet or soft ballet slippers are acceptable.

Open Class Program (dancers age 12+ through adult may drop in)

Open Ballet Class:

Women:
Leotard of any color, tights of any color, ballet technique shoes of any color. If you are new to ballet, you may wear yoga pants, t-shirts and socks or jazz shoes the 1st few lessons, but we encourage you to then purchase the above dance supplies. Open Pilates, Yoga, and Conditioning Classes:
Please wear comfortable clothes for movement.

Contemporary Class:

San Jose Dance Theatre Behavioral Code

All dancers please be respectful of the teacher and your fellow dancers. Please be quiet in class. Silence your cell phones, if you have one. Once class begins, please try to stay in the classroom until break time or the end of class. Make sure to always thank your teachers for corrections and for class and rehearsals.

All parents please keep voices down while classes or rehearsal are going and take cell phone calls outside the building. No photography or filming of classes or posting online images of classes or rehearsals allowed unless the dance teacher says it is allowed. Please be understanding that this is to ensure the best learning environment for your child and out of respect for the teachers and their certifications.

Observation inside the classrooms are allowed for the first class for a new student. It is also allowed the first week of every new semester for all families. We have also built special windows for you to observe your child ANYTIME without distracting your child.

No Filming or picture taking of the dance classes or rehearsals allowed.  Please ask permission from the Artistic Director.  We appreciate it!
