Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I’m ready to place my order. How do I do that?
A: Call our office at 408-286-9905 with the total number of tickets and badges needed, and troop number. All orders must be placed over the phone with a credit card (we accept everything but American Express).

Q: Can I purchase my tickets online?
A: Sorry, but no. All ticket orders must be placed over the phone. You can call our office at 408-286-9905 from 4:00-7:30pm on weekdays, 9:00am-3:00pm on Saturdays, and 12:00-3:00pm on Sundays. Please leave a voicemail if needed.

Q: How much does it cost per person?
A: Girl Scout tickets are $35 per person plus a $3 service fee per ticket. For this price, you receive a “B” ticket, meaning that you will be seated in the best available seats in what is normally priced as the $58 section. This ticket price includes the Girl Scout workshop and Nutcracker performance.

Q: Can family members (parents, siblings, grandparents) attend the workshop and performance too?
A: Absolutely! Every person in your group will attend the workshop and performance, and receives the same Girl Scout ticket rate.

Q: What does the workshop involve?
A: This year, the workshop focuses on educating Girl Scouts about the behind the scenes aspects of our production. They will go on a backstage tour of the theatre, and get to see the inner workings of The Nutcracker by viewing sets, costumes, and more!

Q: Can I only buy a workshop ticket?
A: No, we do not sell workshop tickets individually. All workshop tickets must be linked to a performance ticket in order to gain admission.

Q: Is there time between the workshop and performance?
A: There is usually some time between, and we encourage Girl Scouts to grab a bite to eat during this time. Groups are welcome to attend the workshop and come back for their scheduled performance.

Q: What tickets will I receive in the mail or pick up at will call?
A: Everyone in your group should have two tickets: one ticket for the performance, and either a Workshop Only ticket or a Girl Scout Badge ticket. If you have received your tickets without two tickets for each person in your group, then please contact our office immediately at 408-286-9905.

Q: When can I pick up my badges?
A: Badges will be picked up by the troop leader in the theatre’s lobby at the tour table on the day of your workshop and performance.

Q: Is there a group minimum or maximum?
A: No. We sometimes have just a mother and daughter, and other times there are groups of 40+. As long as you are a Girl Scout, then you may attend and do not necessarily have to attend with your troop. Either way, you must provide a troop number.

Q: What if the B section is full for the performance I want to attend?
A: You will receive the next best available seats in another section. We do everything we can to seat your group together, but the sooner you call to place your order, the better!

Q: Will the Nutcracker boutique be open early for Girl Scouts?
A: Yes! We have a wonderful holiday Nutcracker boutique open at each performance that is full of Nutcrackers, ornaments, clothing, jewelry, and more. These make great souvenirs for your Girl Scouts to remember their Nutcracker experience! We accept cash, check, and credit card.

Q: How long is the workshop and how long is the performance?
A: The workshop is about an hour long, and the performance is two hours long, which includes a 20-minute intermission.

Q: Where can I find parking around the Center for Performing Arts?
A: For parking information, please visit www.sanjosetheaters.org/directions.

Q: How do the Girl Scouts benefit from purchasing tickets to this event?
A: For every Girl Scout ticket purchased, San Jose Dance Theatre will make a donation to the Girl Scouts. San Jose Dance Theatre values this long-standing relationship with the Girl Scouts!
