DESCRIPTION:San Jose Dance Theatre presents its 2018 Spring Showcase: The Kingdom of the Shades\nSan Jose Dance Theatre presents its 2018 Spring Showcase\, a repertory performance featuring the Kingdom of the Shades scene from the ballet La Bayadére\, plus original contemporary works! \nSet in India\, La Bayadère tells the story of star-crossed lovers who reunite in the afterlife in the Kingdom​ ​Of​ ​The Shades. Originally staged by famous choreographer Marius Petipa\, this excerpt is one of the most celebrated in classical ballet and often performed independently of the full-length work. \nTo perform the lead roles in the Kingdom Of The Shades\, we welcome professional dancers Fredrick Davis from “From the Streets to the Stage: The Journey of Fredrick Davis” documentary\, and Lilit Hogtanian of Memphis Ballet. \nThe 2018 Spring Showcase also features San Jose Dance Theatre dancers in works choreographed by Artistic Director Linda Hurkmans\, Jake Casey\, Sian Ferguson\, Grace Lu\, and Irina Tomushev.
