SUMMARY:Nutcracker Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Open to the Public for all levels of dancers. Learn the choreography from Linda Hurkmans\, the Artistic Director and choreographer San Jose Dance Theatre’s The Nutcracker. \nDate: August 24\, 2019\nTime: 1:30-3:30pm \nRegister here! \nAll dancers will learn the material in a supportive environment BEFORE the Sept. 7 & 8 Nutcracker Auditions. Then when they come to the audition\, they will feel more confident because they have learned some of the choreography they will have to dance at the audition ahead of time. \nMiss Linda will not warm the dancers up but will spend the entire 2 hours teaching choreography of different parts of the ballet. Dancers may warm up themselves prior to the workshop. \nWe HIGHLY recommend this workshop! It is very fun and productive!

SUMMARY:Master Class with Aesha Ash
DESCRIPTION:Aesha Ash\, a former dancer with New York City Ballet & Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet\, joins San José Dance Theatre Summer Intensive to teach Ballet on June 20th. Following her class\, she will give a lecture on The Swan Dream Project. \nMISSION \nThrough the use of imagery and my career as a ballet dancer\, I want to help change the demoralized\, objectified and caricatured images of African-American women by showing the world that beauty is not reserved for any particular race or socio-economic background. I wish for this message to infuse the ballet world and project to the entire world. While exposing more African-American communities to the ballet\, I also hope to promote greater involvement and increase patronage to this beautiful art form. \nThe Swan Dreams Project’s goal is to convey the message that beauty and talent are not constrained by race or socio-economic status. I want our youth to know that they are not limited by stereotypes nor by their environment\, but only by their dreams. \nWebsite: http://theswandreamproject.com/\nPhoto Credit: Marty Sohl
