Additional Information Regarding COVID compliance

This year marks San Jose Dance Theatre’s 56th production of The Nutcracker and our triumphant return to LIVE performances as the Resident Ballet Company of the San Jose Center for Performing Arts. We are very excited about having you with us and need to explain the current Covid guidelines and regulations that we must follow as set by Team San Jose for all performing organizations in their theaters, including the Center for Performing Arts (CPA).

The Center for Performing Arts and Team San Jose has notified us that they will require Proof of Vaccination from all performers and volunteers at the theater.

Obviously, this impacts our lovely dancers and volunteers who are either too young (under 12) to be vaccinated or are choosing not to get vaccinated at this point. When we know more from the health officials in September regarding when and if children UNDER 12 can be vaccinated and if you choose to vaccinate your child, the child will be eligible to perform on stage in the Nutcracker provided they are fully vaccinated 14 days before entering the theater.

Volunteers who chose not to vaccinate will still be very welcome to volunteer in other ways outside of the theater and in the studio.

If, either the vaccines are not available before the December performances OR you choose not to vaccinate your child, we still have alternative performance options for your child to have an amazing Nutcracker experience. We may offer either an outdoor or in studio costumed performance for our families.  As always, we are committed to doing whatever we can to help keep our dancers dancing; please stay encouraged that outside performance opportunities will be available for your dancer.

Therefore, please follow the audition schedule attached.

Nutcracker auditions for ALL dancers will be held on September 11 and 12 as planned.

-Those vaccinated please attend.

-Those Not vaccinated, please also attend.

-All dancers WILL be Cast in our production.

-ALL dancers will be allowed to attend all of their scheduled rehearsals for their parts.

Here is the good news from the theater:

-NO Masks are required while performing onstage. (Masks required in all other places in the theater.)

-No Social Distancing is required on the stage.

If you are fine with the above options, please proceed to register for Nutcracker auditions if you have not already above.
