Dancer of the Month – June 2019

San Jose Dance Theatre Student of the Month:

Janine Bugayong

Janine is 18 years old, and her favorite roles during her time at San Jose Dance Theatre have been snow corps, Paquita corps, and Chinese lead acrobat in The Nutcracker. What she loves about attending SJDT is that the teachers give individual corrections so that dancers improve with every class they take. Janine appreciates that the studio as a whole takes things very seriously because discipline is a valuable trait to have even outside of the dance world. Janine loves that everyone at SJDT has been very welcoming to her and other new students this year and feels like the studio has taken her in as family.

Outside of dance, she enjoys watercolor painting and listening to music. Her favorite subjects in school are dance, AP statistics, and American Sign Language. This year, she received a gold cord for achieving a high GPA and a Golden State Seal Merit Diploma Award. Next year, Janine will be attending San Jose State University and plans to continue taking dance classes in college. Congratulations, Janine!
