Dancer of the Month – October 2018

San Jose Dance Theatre Student of the Month: Elise Nguyen

Elise just turned 16 years old this month, and she has been dancing since she was 6. While she loves classical ballet the most, she also loves to paint and bake. Being creative both in the arts and in the kitchen makes her happy. She enjoys both her group of friends at the dance studio and at her school. Currently a Junior at Sobrato High School, she works hard to keep up with her academics and dance schedule.

This busy schedule is nothing new, but it still remains a challenge and requires Elise to be more self-disciplined to use every minute of her time wisely. Her love of dancing onstage, and in particular, The Nutcracker, keeps her motivated. She looks forward to dancing the roles of Dew Drop Fairy, Russian Lead, and Snowflake this holiday. Elise appreciates the Pas de Deux training, the Pilates training, how difficult the ballet training is, and all of the attention to detail and attention to students that Miss Linda and the teachers at SJDT give. She hopes to have more opportunities to train with professional companies as well, like she did this past summer at Kirov Academy of Ballet.
