At a time when the San Jose Dance Theatre should be focusing on their upcoming performance of “Sleeping Beauty,” the nonprofit dance company is asking for the public’s help after a devastating theft of nearly a hundred costumes.

Founded in 1964, the San Jose Dance Theatre (San Jose Dance Theatre) holds a number of large-scale nutcracker and other ballet performances in San Jose every year, which are well received by the community. There are also Chinese students in the group. Last year, due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the San Jose Dance Theater was unable to perform live performances, and the finances were already very tight. It was originally hoped that in 2021, we could quickly escape from the epidemic and have a new start.

For dancers and audience members alike, perhaps one of the biggest jos of ballet are the costumes. But at the San Jose Dance Theater, most of its costumes are now gone after they were stolen out of a storage area this week.
“A punch in the gut here to find that we have been broken into,” said artistic director Linda Hurkmans.
