Dancer of the Month – March 2019

San Jose Dance Theatre Student of the Month:
Natalie Taylor

Natalie is 15 years old and a sophomore at Lynbrook High School. She has been dancing at San Jose Dance Theatre for about 3 years now and enjoys the training, perfecting her technique, and performing. Every year, The Nutcracker is a highlight for her and in her 3 years in the production, Natalie has performed as a Reindeer, Arabian Attendant, Flower, Snowflake, Spanish chocolate, Arabian Princess, and her favorite role to date, Dew Drop Fairy. The things she loves most about attending SJDT are the amazing family environment and excellent training. Over the years, she’s made so many new friends whom she can considers family. She also loves the Vaganova training and that Artistic Director, Linda Hurkmans, gives students training in other styles so that they are flexible in more ways than one!

This summer, Natalie will be attending Bolshoi’s 6-week summer intensive in New York City, in which she will be trained in Vaganova style and receive free Russian language lessons. Although it may seem like it, her whole life doesn’t revolve around ballet. Her favorite school subjects this year are Chemistry and World history. Natalie also enjoys singing and other forms of dance, such as jazz, which is what she started in before discovering her love of ballet.  Natalie and San Jose Dance Theatre are excited to see where dance takes her in the future!
