Meet Our 60th Anniversary Guest Chimney Sweeps!

A Magical New Tradition for a Magical Milestone

In celebration of the 60th Anniversary of The Original San José Nutcracker, San Jose Dance Theatre is thrilled to introduce a heartwarming new tradition: welcoming special guest performers from across our community into the whimsical, lucky charm role of the Chimney Sweep!

For those who don’t know the legend, chimney sweeps have long been seen as symbols of good fortune. Folklore says that shaking a chimney sweep’s hand brings luck and prosperity in the year ahead — a perfect touch of magic for the holiday season. This year, each guest artist stepping into this role brings their own unique sparkle, personality, and unmistakable San José flair to our beloved production.

This special cameo honors the generations of community members who have supported, loved, and uplifted San Jose Dance Theatre through six decades of Nutcracker magic. By featuring local leaders and familiar faces, we celebrate not only our artistic legacy but the community that has helped sustain it.
